What happens to your data
In short: as little as possible – and nothing is used for anything other than your weather report.

What I store
- Your email address – without it I can’t send you anything.
- The location(s) you chose: name and coordinates (rounded to about 10 metres; if you used “Use my location”, to about 1 km).
- Report language, units, delivery time and time zone – separately for each location.
- The time of signup and confirmation and the IP address used for signup. These serve exclusively as proof of your consent (double opt-in) and are not analysed.
- When you last received a report, so you never get one twice.
Purpose and legal basis
The data is processed solely to send the weather report you subscribed to. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future – the “Unsubscribe” link at the end of every email is enough.
Storage period
Until you unsubscribe. The entry for that location – or, if you unsubscribe from all locations, everything about you – is then deleted completely; no “block list” and no remaining record is kept. Signups that are not confirmed within 72 hours expire and are removed.
Weather data and location search
Weather data comes from Open-Meteo (Switzerland), air quality from the European Copernicus service. The location search uses Open-Meteo and Photon by komoot (Germany). All of these requests are made by this server: the services only receive the search term or the coordinates – never your IP address, your email address or anything else about you.
The rain radar in the web app uses map tiles from OpenStreetMap and radar images from the Deutscher Wetterdienst and RainViewer. These are also fetched and cached by this server, and the map script (Leaflet) is hosted here – your browser does not contact any of these services.
When you open the start page, your browser asks whether this site may use your location. If you allow it, the weather card and preview show your own town and the signup form is pre-filled; if you decline, Hannover is shown instead and nothing is transmitted. The same applies to the “Use my location” button. The position is rounded to about 1 km, used only to find the name of your town and not stored – unless you subscribe with that location.
No tracking
The emails contain no tracking pixels and no redirected links. I don’t know whether or when you open an email or which links you click. This website uses no cookies except a technically necessary session cookie for the form and one that remembers your language choice.
The images in the emails (weather icons, backgrounds, the rain radar picture) are loaded from this server when you open the email – just like the website itself. The radar picture is the same for everyone at the same location and contains nothing that identifies you.
Web app: The page “Example / Web app” remembers the location, language and units you chose on your device only (browser storage), so the app opens with your weather next time. Nothing of this is sent to me or stored on the server. To show the last report without a connection, the browser also keeps the pages it loaded. Deleting the website data in your browser removes all of it.
Sharing with third parties
There is none. Emails are sent via this service’s mail server; the only party involved is the hosting provider as a processor.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. A short email to the address above is enough.
